Reproduced below, from the Union Pacific booklet “California,” are the pages that tell about its trains to California. Note the reference to the Challenger as a summer and Christmas-season train. The Challenger Streamliner or Challenger Domeliner’s brief years as a year-round train on a schedule independent of the City of LA are past. Of course the Challenger’s pre-streamlined, pre-war and war-years existence were its peak.
